Many anglers can afford an express sportfish, they just don't want the headache of the upkeep. When you look at a class of the largest dual consoles on the market, you find a boat with the same ability but one that is much more agile. Crossing to the islands with the family for an extended stay, or venturing beyond the Gulf Stream in search of a grander marlin, you need a boat that can take all of your gear and handle some serious seas. Cat hulls are famous for their ability to lay down a chop and when you combine that with the extra beam that carries forward, you end up with a very large, stable platform. All of this additional square footage of cockpit lets the manufacturer add in features normally reserved for much larger vessels.
