Pinellas Park welcomes its first Academy Sports + Outdoors to allow locals to pursue their sports and outdoors passions easily and affordably.

Academy Sports + Outdoors has launched the Grand Opening of their latest store in West Central Florida, nestled in the Park Place Plaza off of Highway 19 in Pinellas Park. The celebration kicked off Thursday with a shopping spree for 25 local children who were a part of the P.A.L (Police Athletic League) program.
P.A.L is a non-profit, crime prevention organization that provides youth ages 8 to 18 years the opportunity to become involved in educational, cultural and sporting activities and help unite Law Enforcement Officers and youth. Each were given a $200 gift card, paired with an Academy or P.A.L representative and given free rein to choose anything they wanted in the store. The local chapter of P.A.L was donated an additional $5,000 gift card for supplies.
Excited customers and employees cheered as the ribbon-cutting ceremony commenced early Friday. Friday morning the ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the official opening of the new store and early bird attendees were rewarded with mystery gift cards worth anywhere from $20 to $500. The first 150 customers in line on Saturday and Sunday will also have the opportunity to receive gift cards so arrive early! The benefits continue inside with tons of great savings, making this the perfect opportunity to get a head start on your holiday shopping .

Long lines were no problem with the new checkout system, customers were on their way outside to the additional festivities in a snap.
