Bow to Stern: Snapshot Look at the Solace 37CS

Versatile offshore center console from Edgewater, Fla., offers crew comfort and innovative fishing touches.

Here’s a snapshot look at the Solace 37CS offshore fishing boat.

Solace packs a lot of big features into the new 37CS—things like interior cabin headroom of 6 feet, 7 inches; electric-operated fully opening windshield; forward bow seating with backrests; that sort of thing. But if you look around the boat, you’ll find all sorts of small details that help add up to a truly distinctive, angler-friendly boat. It was a fun walk-through for me at this year’s Miami International Boat Show.

One thing I noticed was an overall design commitment to provide spaces to store, access and easily identify important gear where it’s needed.

A very good example is this ported gunnel locker for a fire extinguisher. Simple solution, clean and safe.

There are also things not easily seen—like magnets embedded in strategic places around the boat where you might temporarily set metal items like pliers, hooks, etc.

Cup Holders

Speaking of which, the 37CS has an array of stainless steel rod holders 360 degrees around the cap—and next to each, you’ll find a flush-mount cup holder. Not only does that provide the obvious place to set a cold drink, but perhaps more importantly, a staging position for sinkers or other tackle components.

Beneath the gunnel at the transom and also midship, you’ll find optional port and starboard power outlets for electric reels. The switch panel shown in the photo is for a Solace proprietary engine flushing system; super convenient for flushing those twin or triple outboards in one swoop.

Down below, the berth lifts to reveal a huge hidden storage area for an arsenal of rods. That rack will contain 11 rods and two gaffs.

Tuna Tubes

The 37CS comes standard with twin 40-gallon livewells but also offers the option of twin tuna tubes at port and starboard. A nice touch for the livebait marlin fishing which has become very popular at the rigs in the Gulf of Mexico.
