This is a boat capable of carrying the whole family offshore fishing, to the dive spot for some underwater activity, and back to the inland waterway for a relaxing cruise. She also features all of the space to make you comfortable doing it along with the tools to help you do it well. From a comfort standpoint, the 288 Commander is a well thought out design. Bow seating includes an extremely comfortable forward wrap-around style seating area with a unique back rest angle. Seated facing aft, the semi-reclined position offers a more relaxed posture while facing you towards the forward console twin lounge seats creating a comfortable arrangement for socializing on a cruise. The forward console twin lounge seats rest above a coffin box style storage area which is very roomy and includes space for plenty of gear including (3) dive tank racks.
The center console is a well-conceived design utilizing space lengthwise in the boat to include the forward seating/storage along with creating space inside large enough to accommodate an electric head w/holding tank while not overpowering the area needed to walk around the boat. The console face is set up with a user friendly heads up dash/helm allowing the driver to view electronics and switching without looking away from the water while underway. The helm station/ tackle center features two independent captain chairs set up to lean/stand or sit comfortably in comfort. Behind the seating, a large tackle station with plenty of convenient storage sits above a 65-quart performance cooler on a powered sliding track which operates with the push of a button.
The cockpit features a very large pressurized 60-gallon live well more than capable of handling enough bait for all day fishing. The forward face of the transom bait well folds down to reveal a double wide seat which is flanked by twin single fold-away seats in the corners. Easy passage to the rear platform is possible with the seats down and a boarding ladder allows quick re-entry for divers or swimmers. A large side entry dive door also makes entering the water simpler for divers loaded down with gear.
