Sea Cat 260 Hybrid Bay Catamaran Boat Review

Let's take a closer look at the Sea Cat 260 Hybrid Bay Catamaran in this review.

From backwater to bluewater, the Sea Cat 260 has got you covered.

The Sea Cat 260 Hybrid Bay offers a logical solution for backwater and coastal boating. Applying a catamarans smooth ride, handling and stability at rest to a boat designed for coastal backwaters along with some blue water- makes good sense and that's exactly what the 260 does.

The ride on the Sea Cat was that of a performance boat capable of high speed that tamed the chop handily. The 260 can be rigged with as little as 280 HP and up to 600 which is precisely what our twin Suzuki's 300 powered test boat provided. A top speed of 65 MPH seemed much faster and at a cruising speed of 38 MPH we were seeing 2 MPG.

Loads of storage is available below deck on the Sea Cat. Forward seats leading to the bow platform contain rod lockers below. Beneath the step up to the elevated casting deck is an insulated compartment. In the center hatch below the upper deck is another fishbox and a pair of compartments to port and starboard flank the forward casting deck platform. A pair of seven-foot-long insulated fish holds in the deck surround the console sides. Each of these compartments feature quality Gemlux hardware and gas shocks.

At the console, the helm beneath the hard top is protected by an acrylic deflector style wrapped windscreen. Matching 12-inch MFDs and all instrumentation are neatly arranged and all top quality Bocatech switches are used. A meticulously neat wiring scheme inside of the console is laid out in an easy to understand system and comes with a schematic explaining the function of each wire from switch to battery. Two Llebroc helm seats back up to a roomy tackle center rocket launcher in the cockpit. Matching 25-gallon pressurized wells are located in opposite corners and a flip up double wide seat is located under the wide transom casting deck.

Your inshore and coastal fishing potential on this boat will be greatly stretched due to the ability to cover more ground on foul weather days. The versatility of a bay boat combined with the performance of a catamaran will undoubtedly open up some doors for anglers.
