The 231-XS from Scout is a smartly designed model that bridges the gap between a boat used for fishing inshore/bay waters and one used for fishing nearshore/light offshore open waters, in a stylish and functional package. Scout designs are easily recognizable by their sleek racy lines and curvy attractive finish work but it's more than looks that make this boat a practical fishing platform. The 231-XS takes a stepped hull performance style bottom, built to handle the typical sea condition found on near coastal waters and builds a deck layout more conducive to inshore casting bay boat style angling. The forward elevated casting deck is very roomy and provides added depth to the storage spaces below the deck. A rear casting surface sits atop a flip up passenger bench seat and easy access to pumps and through hull fittings. Alongside of the bench seat are matching 26-Gallon livewells. An additional 11-Gallon well is located forward and is handy for storing crabs or shrimp. Port and starboard storage under the foredeck is roomy and also features rod lockers on both sides, while the center hatch reveals a very generous compartment which easily handles the storage needs for a boat this size. Access to the inside of the center console is wide open via an upward lifting hatch that provides full vertical access to the storage space found inside as well as easy access to systems behind the helm panel. A uniquely styled leaning seat is racy looking and very easy to get comfortable in front of in both the seated or standing position.
