Shallow water anglers as well as professional charter captains wanted a larger platform which led to the development of the Mitzi 17. A CAD designed hull incorporating input from anglers produced a boat with no hull slap and a super shallow draft. The overall length is 16 feet, 10 inches and it's 77 inches wide, which gives plenty of room in the deck layout for baitwells and release wells. The wider gunnels make walking fore and aft a breeze and allow for increased rod storage, including a 9 ½-foot fly rod.
The hull weighs 560 pounds and can handle up to a 70-horsepower outboard. Although you can order the boat with a built-in fuel tank, it comes standard with portable tanks. Some anglers like the portables, as they can fuel up without having to always take the boat up to the gas station. The no wood, all composite boat can be custom-ordered and rigged to fit your individual needs.
