Kids' Series Kicks Off in Broward



Look out Randall Tharpe and Bobby Lane! The first tournament of the year for the 2012 Bass Fishing Kids - Broward County trail took place Feb. 4 at Tradewinds Park. Forty three young anglers took to the water to showcase their skills. Each fisherman received a goody bag full of lures. A Shakespeare rod & reel, prize pack and medals were handed out to first, second and third place in both divisions. Shakespeare is the main sponsor.

Here are the results:

Small Fry Division

1st place – Joshua Guyton (Davie) 3 fish – 2.25 lbs

2nd place – Ethan Rogge (Weston) 3 fish – 1.86 lbs

3rd place – Blake Weger (Wellington) 2 fish -  .90 lbs

Junior Division

1st place – Tyler Nekolny (Coral Springs) 4 fish – 8.92 lbs

2nd place – Jake Stark (Davie) 4 fish – 4.81 lbs

3rd place – Michael Cash (Plantation) 2 fish – 3.47 lbs

Big Fish for the day – Tyler Nekolny – 5.77 lbs

Two FLW pros visited to give some pointers to the kids. Castrol Pros Mike Surman & Darrel Robertson signed some hats for the kids. A BBQ followed and the awards given out after the BBQ.
