Kayak Angler's Choice Awards

Nominations are in for the second annual Kayak Angler's Choice Awards, the only user-driven kayak fishing awards. This year there were double the number of people and products nominated and the competition is looking stiff.

The Kayak Angler's Choice Awards were created in 2011 to find “the people's choice” in a variety of kayak fishing-related categories. That was the first time anyone had attempted to rally the kayak community across the nation to nominate award winners.

"I'm extremely excited to see how the kayak fishing community votes this year," said Adam Hayes, co-owner of YakAngler.com.

“We had two different kayaks stand out ICAST and Outdoor Retailer this year - the Hobie Mirage Pro Angler 12 and Native Watercraft Slayer. It will be interesting to see what the kayak fishing community thinks is the best kayak!” said Mark Watanabe, co-owner of YakAngler.com

Chip Gibson, owner of KayakFishingRadio.com, added, “I think it's great that we get to find out what the kayak anglers are thinking about their gear, the kayaks and each other. It's their choice.”

The survey was live for several weeks to collect nominations for various categories. Now nominations have closed, and voting began on September 10, 2012  and ends on October 10, 2012. To place your vote, visit: http://www.yakangler.com/choice.

Florida Sportsman has a number of entries entered into the awards, including both Mark's and BonitaBob's kayak fishing blogs, plus the highly-successful online tournament Florida Sportsman Kayak Challenge. A number of active forum members are also up for "Kayak Angler of the Year." It's all in good fun, so be sure to vote today. Next year, Florida Sportsman's Kayaking community, better known as the No Motor Zone, will have to make a showing!
