Ideal Application: Short-trip ocean, big-water lakes, rivers, bays and flats. Shines where precise boat control and maneuverability are paramount. A super-stable hull for stand-up fishing that's still reasonably swift. Superior seating and creature comforts make for an ideal all-day fishing platform. Can accommodate lots of gear and large users with ease, but overall size and prodigious weight require attention and thought to transport and launching.
Gulf of Mexico red snapper landed on Pro Angler 14. Go just about anywhere, carry just about anything, on this big rig.
Overview: The capacity king, the Mirage Pro Angler with 360 Drive is the top-of-the line Hobie kayak, available in both a 12- and 14-foot version. Its sheer size and capacity belie its maneuverability, handling manors and responsiveness, thanks to its amazing pedal-fin drive, skeg and rudder combination. Equipped with the award-winning Mirage Drive 360 with Turbo Kick-Up fins, this kayak can literally spin on itself, then blast away in any chosen direction via the rotating fin drive, located slighting fore of center boat.
The 2021 Pro Angler 14 with the MirageDrive 360 and Kick-Up Fins delivers power in every direction for unprecedented maneuverability and control.
When you add the control of the directional rudder, you can make this kayak perform in ways previously impossible in a human-powered hull. This makes it possible to neutralize wind, waves and current more effectively than any other pedal-kayak platform, and allows you to stay on structure, cover and breaks with uncanny precision. And when you need to stay on a bearing with the bow pointed true, the large retractable skeg helps you stay the course without constant correction.
It's wide, rock-solid standing platform comes decked out with noise reducing EVA traction pads as well as horizontal rod storage.
Notable: The Pro Angler's comfort-rich interior features the insanely adjustable Vantage ST seat, which can also be removed and used as a comfortable beach chair. Dual 12-sided H-Rails allow for mounting a wide array of custom Hobie accessories from electronics to tackle-management trays. Two vertical, in-hull rod holders are located in the stern, and up to six horizontal rods can be stored running fore and aft along the sides. Mounting boards on both side of the cockpit come with an integrated gear track system with multiple slots for pliers, scissors, knives and other necessities.
A rectangular hatch just in front of the seat conceals a mesh storage pocket and pivoting storage for two medium-sized Plano® tackle boxes (included).
Massive storage in the bow hatch and an eight-inch round hatch in the tank well complements the unique, in-hull pivoting tackle management system in front of the seat that conveniently deploys two Plano 3600 boxes at the ready. A Guardian retractable transducer shield in the hull retracts for transport or on impact with underwater obstacles. Pre-installed thru-hull cable plugs allow quick, no-drill fishfinder installation, and the side hulls are pre-threaded for conveniently adding an anchor trolley. The only drawback is weight and cost, with a retail of $4,999, though Hobies traditionally hold their value quite well.
