During this Florida Sportsman Seminar, Yo-Zuri's George Large, the man in charge of product development for the company, shows us the best techniques for using both topwater and subsurface "walk the dog" style lures.

Topwater "walk the dog" style lures are the perfect artificials of choice for early morning and late afternoon bites for inshore species such as snook, trout, and redfish. Offshore, they entice pelagics such as dolphin, tuna, kingfish, amberjack, and more. The action these topwater lures create is something very few of our favorite sportfish can resist, plus, watching a fish inhale a topwater lure is always exciting!

Subsurface "walk the dog" or "slider" style lures have the same action as their look-a-like topwater versions, but make all their moves under the surface. Because they require more water to work effectively (both vertically and horizontally), these lures are geared more towards the bluewater crowd for all of our favorite pelagic species.
