Fort Lauderdale Offshore Fishing Seminar

Learn How to Fish at “Ladies, Let's Go Fishing!” South Florida April 26-28, 2019



Women, men and teens are invited to tackle offshore fishing skills at the South Florida "Ladies, Let's Go Fishing!" University, April 26-28 at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1966 (VFW), Fort Lauderdale, FL. Hosted by the nonprofit organization, the “No Yelling School of Fishing” offers classroom presentations, networking, hands-on skill practice and an optional charter fishing trip.

Activities launch Friday evening with an informal meet-and-greet at VFW from 6-8pm. On Saturday beginning at 9:30 am are presentations on Fishing Basics by Capt. Lee Lavery, Offshore Fishing by Jeanne Towne, Capt. Dennis Forgione and Conservation by Betty Bauman. Hands-on skill practice follows, for releasing, knot tying, dehooking, bait rigging, spin casting, fly casting, gaffing grapefruits, cast netting, trailer backing and more until 4:30 pm. On Sunday is an optional charter fishing trip for sailfish, mahi mahi, mackerel, tuna, wahoo, snapper and more, followed by a filet demonstration.

Ladies have the option to register a male guest and/or teens to include the whole family. Eight thousand women have graduated.



Featured on national network television and more, the series is supported by major partners including Recreational Fishing and Boating Foundation, Take Me Fishing, Vamos a Pescar, Mercury, Magic Tilt trailers, Scout Boats, Seven Seas Yacht Sales, Power-Pole and Fish Florida. Largest Annual Sponsors are CCA Florida STAR, Freedom Boat Club, Treasure Cay Beach, Marina & Golf Resort, Sunrise Resort & Marina and Future Angler Foundation.

Early Registration of $79 (Regular $99) includes $50 worth of goodies, instruction, use of equipment, hands-on training, networking reception and fundraisers. Offshore fishing is additional. No equipment or experience is necessary. Membership is not required; however graduates can join the South Florida chapter to continue the fishing fun. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1966 (VFW) is located at 350 SW 25th St, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33315, just off of SR 84. Sunday Fishing is out of Fort Lauderdale.
