Dusky 227V XF Open Fisherman Boat Review

Let's take a closer look at the Dusky 227V XF Open Fisherman in this boat review

Dusky 227V XF Open Fisherman Boat Review

Dusky has designed a rugged 23-footer that can stand up to offshore conditions more commonly associated with much bigger boats and keep you safe and comfortable while doing so.

You won’t typically see a boat in this size class advertised as a true offshore center console but for many years Dusky has been introducing new boaters to the world of offshore fishing with various topside versions of the 227V hull. You might be skeptical of a center console in this class being capable of meeting your demands in the harsh conditions that the gulf stream often dishes, out but one ride in her would put your concerns to rest.

The 227V features a hard chine and step V bottom design for a dry and easy ride along with a closed transom and integrated fiberglass Dusky Drive bracket to provide superior performance while keeping water out of the cockpit on rough days. Like all Dusky models, she can be optioned out with many different features. As a base platform with the Forward V-seating used for insulated fish storage and an added optional live well incorporated into the forward console seat at a minimum, you’d be riding in an offshore ready machine at a very modest price point.

Add a few extra touches like a T-top and helm station with extra live well along with outriggers and a removable transom seat with backrest and you’ll be into a nicely rigged center console- ready for blue water adventures for less money than some premier technical skiffs are demanding. For anyone looking to dive into the offshore fishing game that wants the reliability and consistent performance that a new boat has to offer but isn’t ready or able to invest as much money as a multiple engine tournament ready beast would fetch, the Dusky 227V will afford you a spot on the same waters as the big dogs.

Dusky has been a factory direct builder since 1967 and their ability to work directly with the buyer without an outside sales network enables them to offer very competitive pricing without cutting corners on quality. These boats are ruggedly built for serious fishing and built to last a lifetime.
