We're in the thick of crossbow and traditional bow-hunting seasons for much of Florida. Zone C, which includes Northeast Florida and parts of the central peninsula, has been open since Sept. 15, and runs through Oct. 14. Zone B will open Oct. 13-Nov. 11, and Zone D will run Oct. 20-Nov. 21. Click here to see the Zones on a map, and here to see the seasonal regulations.
Many Florida Sportsman Members have been posting pictures of trophies in the Hunt Camp Forum. Here's a super report that came to the e-mail box of Editor Jeff Weakley:
Earl "Bubba" Pickett took this outstanding 8 point buck on Monday, Sept. 17, with a crossbow. He was hunting at the Pickett Hunt Club located northeast of Hilliard, Florida where he is a charter member of the club which was organized more than 30 years ago. Earl Pickett is 84 years old and has been a lifelong resident of Jacksonville's westside community of Pickettville. Earl has been hunting in Northeast Florida with his family for more than 75 years. Bubba has harvested many deer in his lifetime but this has to be one of his finest. This picture is being submitted by the proud members of the Pickett Hunting Club.
