To say that the Cobia 296cc is manufactured by a new company is partially right. The Cobia name brand has been around in the boating industry for over 50 years but when Maverick Boat Company, manufacturers of Maverick, Hewes and Pathfinder, acquired Cobia, they set out to do more than just maintain the company's history they totally redesigned the line with computer-aided technology not only in the hull design but with the tooling as well.
With an overall length of 29-feet, 7-inches and a 10-foot beam, this boat has the soft ride of a much larger craft but is surprisingly efficient. The through-bolted hardware, stainless steel fittings and high grade composite material speak to the level of quality MBC has become known for in their other boats.
Two hundred and thirty gallons of fuel is standard and provides plenty of range even with the max horsepower of 600. The 82-square feet of self-bailing cockpit includes twin 80-gallon fish boxes and twin 28-gallon livewells. With bow and stern seating, a head in the console plus a leaning post tackle station, the Cobia 296cc is an offshore machine that will satisfy the family and the fisherman.
