Boat Review - Boston Whaler 380 Outrage

The Boston Whaler mission to build “Reliable, Upscale, Luxury Boats” is fully realized in the 380 Outrage.

Working from the perspective that one can deliver comfort and luxury amenities typically associated with large inboard cabin sport fishing boats, and offer them in a sporty outboard powered center console, the 380 Outrage manages to give you the best of both worlds. For comfort on deck she features abundant luxury seating options including a forward console lounge seat and forward wrap around seating with flip-up back rests. The cockpit seating consists of a foldaway bench across the transom opposite an aft facing couch with insulated cooler storage or an optional 40-gallon live well beneath. The helm deck has a true bridge deck inspired appearance and features 180-degrees of glass forward, allowing air-conditioning to be supplied to the helmsman and companions through vents on the console face and seating vents under the three independent helm seats. A very roomy air-conditioned cabin below features a fully enclosed head with a shower for privacy and comfort along with a convertible settee/double berth, teak decks, microwave and storage cabinets. Other nice touches include Blue LED Accent lighting throughout the cockpit, White LED lighting in the bilge and inside of all storage compartments, a dive door on the port side with SS removable ladder, full coaming bolster from bow to stern, and integrated anchor windlass with handheld remote. Notable upgrades include SeaKeeper Gyro Stabilizer, Raymarine Thermal night vision, joystick piloting, Cockpit grill, underwater lighting, refrigerated fish boxes and much more.

As a fishing platform the rigging is consistent with serious tournament ready center console standards. The visibility gained with the addition of the upper station (with controls) along with competition outriggers provide a sport boat feel complemented by the full 360-degree fish-ability cockpit of a large center console. A 60-gallon pressurized live well in the transom can be backed up by an additional 40-gallon cockpit well providing capacity to suit any situation. Seventeen rod holders are standard as are (3) three below deck fish boxes with pump-out. The available optional equipment offered is at the upper level you'll find for any center console on the market today. Whaler has managed to nicely blend real world creature comforts with a serious fishing platform in this model.
