In this boat review, we take a closer look at the Stamas 370 Aegean
The advantages of a raised helm express cabin boat that combine comfortable trappings below deck and a working cockpit space for fishing or diving are many. Typically, a boat in this class is going to be an inboard diesel model which for many recreational boating families is a deal breaker. Between cost and difficulty of engine maintenance and diesel exhaust fumes alone- the inboard express boat design has waned somewhat in popularity.
Enter the twin outboard powered
Stamas 370 Aegean- a practical and economical express model that will sleep the entire family and fish extended range trips for days bringing the comforts of home along for the ride.
The 370 ships with a generator and air conditioning, a refrigerator, stove, microwave, Polk Audio sound system, TV/DVD and an enclosed head with a sink and hot water shower are all included. The nicely appointed cold air cabin offers a forward V-berth, Aft cabin berth and convertible settee to accommodate at least four adults overnight.
At the bridge deck- the helm to Starboard and companion seat to Port provide a clear view of the oncoming water in close proximity to the vessel which is often obstructed on this type of design. A cockpit bait prep center behind the helm seat provides a rigging surface with fresh water and a sink along with lockable tackle storage drawers. An aft facing seat opposite the tackle center is a comfortable spot from which to monitor your baits.
For insulated space a 235-quart fishbox along with 71 and 57-quart coolers aft are standard. An additional massive dry storage area is accessed under the cockpit deck by a powered lifting hatch which raises the entire deck. A livewell at the transom joins the fishbox behind a convertible cockpit bench seat. A large pass-through door to the transom platform provides access to the water and your engines.
The ride on the 370 Aegean is commanding as you might expect from a 15,000-pound vessel- feeling similar to an inboard in the way she moves waves out of her path rather than skipping over them. Despite her imposing frame the 370 Aegean offered an impressive 1.2 MPG at 35 MPH with only a pair of Suzuki DF350s behind her with a top speed of 50 MPH.
