Boat Review - Glasstream 360 SCX

Boat Review - Glasstream 360 SCX
The foredeck space created by the cabin provides anglers an elevated place to battle a fish.

What do you get when you combine a race inspired 36-foot hull that will run over 70 MPH, add an air conditioned cabin with sleeping room for a small family, a comfortable seating configuration on deck for cruising and sand bar hopping, and wrap it all up with offshore fishability? The answer is a Glasstream 360 SCX. Despite a heritage that began in the world of pure racing boats, Glasstream has managed to evolve into a company that caters to the needs of many. For the boater who needs to make long runs offshore to reach the fishing grounds, a soft ride and plenty of speed are a requirement to ensure you reach your final destination in a timely fashion and aren't too beat up to want to fish when you get there. The 360 SCX delivers on both counts. A “High Lift” Ventilated step bottom is happy running at easy cruising speeds of 48 MPH while offering 2.4 MPG economy.

Fishing amenities include matching 6-foot insulated fish boxes to Port and Starboard of the console along with a deep Snapper/Grouper Box in the center deck forward of the console. A pair of live wells in the cockpit, 35 and 25-gallons respectively with high speed pick-ups handle a ready supply of bait while an additional pair of forward wells may be added if necessary. Rod holders in the cockpit gunnels (4) are standard along with an additional (6) in the overhead pipework on the hard top.

Should you find yourself in need of a place to get out of the weather or to spend the weekend or an overnight fishing trip and sleeping accommodations are required, the forward cabin features a Starboard side sitting area and blends into a full forward twin berth which can be expanded to convert the entire cabin into a larger bed. Air Conditioning, TV/DVD, Microwave, and a small refrigerator are all available and a porcelain Head located within the center console along with a fresh water shower (40-gal) rounds out the total package creating a space where the family can legitimately expand their horizons beyond the simple day trip. This truly is a boat that wears a lot of hats.
