Yellowtail snapper catches may be shifted to commercial fleet in plans under discussion by South Atlantic Council. Meetings are being held in Florida this week.
Join local representatives from the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council and Council staff as public hearing and scoping meetings continue this week along Florida's east coast.
The Council is holding a series of public hearing/scoping meetings to collect public input on proposed management measures for yellowtail snapper, red snapper options and the Vision Blueprint for the snapper grouper fishery.

Proposed Allocation Measures for Yellowtail Snapper
The Council is proposing management actions and alternatives for shifts in allocations between commercial and recreational sectors as well as an action to merge current annual catch limits for yellowtail snapper in the Gulf of Mexico and South Atlantic.

Snapper Grouper Amendment 43
Options for Red Snapper and Recreational Reporting
The Council is seeking input on ways to reduce red snapper discards, improve discard estimates, and if discards can be reduced sufficiently, allow a limited harvest of red snapper.
