Boat Review - Cobia 240CC

Boat Review - Cobia 240CC
Some impressive design upgrades above deck combined with a solid proven hull design meet in the middle to produce a winning combination in the Cobia 240CC.

A noticeable trend in the boatbuilding future lately is trying to fit bigger features into smaller boats. The challenge builders are faced with is finding the right combination of options to combine while not overdoing it and more importantly, not closing in the usable space on board. Maverick Boat Group has found a winning combination in their new Cobia 240CC. Beginning with one of their most proven and popular hull designs, (the 237) Cobia completely retooled the topside forming a modern deck layout into a pleasant combination of part serious fishing, part family comfort, and topped it off with plenty of style.

In the bow, a comfortable lounge area is welcoming for casual cruisers to socialize. Forward bench seats to port and starboard meet at the foredeck anchor locker and are joined by a removable filler panel to form wraparound seating. The cushions and back bolsters may be enhanced by the addition of two removable forward facing backrests. An extra high backed seat is located on the forward console door which opens into a console cabin with a head which provides over 6 feet of headroom. The console itself is framed by an extruded pipe 3-sided enclosure whose profile fits neatly within the outside dimensions of the console body. This design is a real space saver that squarely addresses one of the challenges of trying to make a 24-foot boat feel larger. A hardened, polished acrylic three-sided windshield with an electric vent is scratch resistant and durable and a popular option for this model. The fiberglass helm station option features Llebroc seats and a tackle storage station in the rear along with easy to reach battery storage behind your footrest at the helm above the deck.

The fishing oriented cockpit features a pair of 132-quart insulated fish boxes with optional macerator/pump outs and a 28-gallon live well on the port transom. A walk-through port transom door allows easy passage to the transom platform for divers or to fight a fish around the engines. The starboard transom bulkhead includes a fold down bench seat with a removable backrest.

The Cobia 240CC comes in a wide array of packages ranging from equipment upgrades to electronics or paint choices and power options. The boat takes us another step further into the future of boating design choices and appears to be delivering just what the consumer is asking for based on her new market popularity.
