Fishbrain App

Fishbrain (www.Fishbrain.com) is the world's most popular mobile app and social network for anglers, and the fastest, easiest way to log fishing activity and share it with anglers worldwide. Available on iOS and Android, the free-to-use Fishbrain app helps sport-fishing enthusiasts catch more (and bigger) fish by gathering and managing vast amounts of meteorological and user data, and presenting it an intuitive and responsive map format. The app has over 1.7 million users worldwide, with over 1 million in the US, and is growing rapidly.

Within the app, Fishbrain users can:

Log their fishing trips and catches

Explore detailed maps and zoom in to discover what fish have been caught in a particular area and with what bait

Follow other users in real-time

Share pictures of their prized catches

The Fishbrain Forecast, developed in partnership with world-renowned scientists in Complex Dynamical Systems & Artificial Intelligence, is a revolutionary new feature that helps anglers worldwide catch bigger fish by providing detailed forecasts that reveal the optimal time to catch a particular species of fish in any given location.

By looking at the weather forecast for the coming days in a particular region, and applying Fishbrain's predictive analytics algorithms, a personalised Fishbrain Forecast is calculated and presented to the user, increasing the chance of anglers achieving that dream catch.

Another new feature is ‘Teams', which allows users to compete against friends and other Fishbrain users from all over the world for leaderboard supremacy, reflecting the real-world habits of anglers.

Fishbrain users can upgrade to a Premium Account for £4.49 per month or £29.99 annually, which allows deeper insight and personal analysis that helps improve an angler's performance, for example by predicting what bait would be most effective in catching a particular type of fish in a specific lake.

As well as taking users' input into account, Fishbrain also automatically gathers a whole range of external data that it matches to a user's position using geolocation. Detailed weather, tide, and wind conditions are fed back to a user in real-time, helping them to make smarter decisions whilst out fishing.

Fishbrain recently teamed up with the US Fish and Wildlife Service (www.fws.gov), the federal government agency dedicated to the conservation of fish, wildlife, plants and their habitats, to invite the American public to identify and document threatened, endangered and candidate species across the country. The ongoing initiative represents one of the biggest crowdsourced conservational data collections in history.

According to a report entitled Fishing For Answers (which researched the benefits of angling for individuals and communities over a period of four years), angling has over 4 million regular participants in the UK, and is worth in the region of £3bn to the economy. Already a success in its native Sweden, and the fastest growing platform of its type in the US, Fishbrain launched in the UK in March 2014 in association with the Angling Times, tapping into this active and burgeoning market by providing users with a tool to maximise the success of their fishing trip.

Johan Attby, CEO of Fishbrain comments, “Anglers love exchanging tips and telling stories about the one that got away – and also bragging about the ones that didn't! It is this that Fishbrain taps into: offering a completely

new way to track, record and plan fishing trips, as well as connecting a community of like-minded individuals from around the world. Our users have logged over 500,000 catches, demonstrating that there is real demand for a tool that can identify exactly when and where to locate certain fish, the correct bait to use to maximise the chances of success, and to share tips and success stories with fellow fishing enthusiasts Fishbrain has proven to be popular in Sweden and the US, and we are excited to see the response from the UK market.”

Fishbrain Features Include:

A personal log within the app that allows users to keep a detailed record of all their catches, fishing trips, tackle box and statistics.

A highly-detailed interactive map that lets users to explore fishing areas nearby. Users can access information about what species of fish have been caught in the area, the method and bait used, as well as details such as the weight, time and the conditions when the catch was made.

The option to follow other Fishbrain users, track their activity, leave comments, and give a thumbs up to their latest catches. Specific fishing areas can also be tracked, so users can keep up-to-date on all activity in areas of particular interest. This tool also allows for the planning of fishing trips with other local users.

Users who hold the record for the largest catch in a specific lake or river are named ‘King of the Water' and their user profile is highlighted within the page for that body of water.
