Cobia 216 and 256

Cobia 216 and 256
Cobia 216 and 256

Exclusive FS photos of two center console fishing machines from Cobia boats.

These  two center consoles were among the first models to be released by the Maverick boat company when they took over Cobia. The photos below are exclusively from Florida Sportsman magazine.

About the models: The 216 and 256 center console models were designed from the ground-up by the Maverick company to continue the half-century long Cobia tradition of combining fishing utility with creature comforts for a family-oriented vessel. These craft are tailor-made for versatility in a number of recreational uses, including fishing, diving and casual cruising. They're roomy, comfortable, and their solid construction instills confidence. They're “no-wood” construction and backed by a 10-year limited warranty, and they're powered by Yamaha engines.

Cobia 216

The 216 is a walk-in console with a head and built-in cooler seat, two in-deck fish boxes and a level deck, from stem to stern. A very nimble, fast and comfortable ride, the 216 accomodates many styles and intensities of fishing, from the back bay to offshore, and also easily entertains other ocean and river adventures.

Specs for the 216 center console:

LOA: 21' 6”

Beam: 8' 3”

Draft: 14”

Fuel Capacity: 100 gals

Weight w/o engines: 2,800 lbs

Max HP: 225

MSRP: ranges from $39,000 to $45,000, plus options

Cobia 256

The 256 is the choice for those anglers looking to go offshore more often than not and wanting the opportunity to accommodate both kids and hardcore anglers, not necessarily at the same time. This is a tough, strong craft that's both roomy, comfortable and practical.

Specs for the 256 center console:

LOA: 25' 6”

Beam: 8' 10”

Draft: 17”

Weight w/o engine: approx. 4,000 pounds

Fuel Capacity: 162 gallons

Max Horsepower: 350

MSRP:  ranges from $73,000 to $82,000, plus options.

The 256 gives anglers the range and the power, and the comfort to boot, to make those longer trips to out-of-the-way places, say, the Bahamas, the Tortugas, the Gulf Stream off Florida's east coast, and it affords ample space to host a good group of folks on shorter trips.

The 256 boasts a long list of features to maximize comfort, like a retractable, fold down rear lounge seat and a large, rounded corner livewell:

...that lifts to give easy access to the bilge

The facility of design continues with easy access to fuel pumps

...and battery switches

There's no shortage of dry storage on this boat, to fit vests, dive gear, clothes, and all manner of safety equipment. Side, under the seat, bow and under the front seat storage fit a lot of important stuff

And, importantly, a large, 64” in-deck fish box with ample room for chill-kill and fish

...and there's plenty of tackle storage built-in to the leaning post, plus rod and cup holders

The center console is roomy and smart-looking with ample storage space

For comfort for the family and friends, you can't forget the fresh water shower at the transom option

...which is easily accessible to the folding, hiding dive ladder

...and the head! Pretty roomy in there, too

...the catbird's seat

Now, there's plenty of serious fishing space on this craft too, and serious fishing options to go with that room, like the outriggers on the T-top.

Plenty of rod holders along both sides and the stern.

...and the bow has all flush-mounted equipment to keep lines clear and minimize snags and stubbed toes.

There's a lot on this boat, and it carries the Cobia brand.

...into all new waters. There's durability, smart design and plenty of speed, too, behind the creation and development of this all-new vessel.

There you go.
