Scout Winyah 177

Boat builders recognize new models have to compete with today's hefty used boat market. That was the justification behind the Scout Boats 177 Series, explained Scout Boats Owner Steve Potts during a recent event at Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina. “We wanted to create a moderately priced inshore boat that will hold its value and compete,” he said. “Right now, the used boating industry is the biggest competitor.”

Instead of building a single model that customers could customize, Scout built four models that utilize the same hull with different packages or “tops.” The four models include the Sport and Sportfish (bay), Dorado (dual console) and Winyah (flats). Standard features on all the different models include a flared bow, integrated 20-gallon fuel tank, flush mount rod holders, bilge pump and baitwell.

“Scout pays strict attention to detail when it comes to re-sell value, clean upkeep and value-engineered design,” said Potts. “We've been very aggressive with 16 new Scout models showcased in the last two years.”

Serious flats fishermen will likely choose the Winyah with its aerated console baitwell, horizontal rod racks, two 3-tube vertical rod holders, poling platform, two deck hatches with storage, and release-well helm seat. Below are detailed photos and specifications of the Scout 177 Series Winyah in an easy-to-follow slideshow format.
