When choosing a braided fishing line to spool your reels with, whether inshore or offshore, there are a few different things to consider. With the enormous popularity of braid nowadays, there are more brands and varieties of braid to choose from than ever before. Essentially all braids offer the same idea, high breaking strength at a very small diameter compared to monofilament (translates to more line capacity), along with virtually no stretch. Florida Sportsman member estero compares the battle of brands with braided fishing lines to the "Chevy vs. Ford" debate, most of it really just comes down to personal choice and finding an individual preference. Try many different brands and stick with the one that you feel most confident in and works best for you. Check out the thread "Which Braid?" to see what Florida Sportsman members had to say.
Of course, when you do find the brand that works best for you, there are still some things to consider. Forum member Triguy brings up another personal preference question, braid color choice. Most members have their own favorite color for their own reasons, but one major factor does stick out, visibility. Yellow seems to be a top pick for its high visibility, which prevents tangles with other anglers when casting and allows the angler to see their line in the spread when trolling. Besides color, choosing a diameter line that is best for your reel is critical as well. One major advantage to braid is that you can cast much further when your reel is matched with the appropriate line. Check out the forum thread for more information on choosing the correct diameter braided line for your setup.
