A new shooting sports venue in Okeechobee, Florida, the OK Corral Gun Club is hosting its first ever Spring Open this Friday, April 6. It's a National Sporting Clays Association-registered tournament, with a 100-bird main event starting at 8 a.m., followed by a 50-bird event at 1:30 p.m., and a 50-bird sub gauge event taking place all day. Catered lunch is included in the registration fee for the main event. Registration was still open early in the week.
Two "blue rabbits" will be randomly placed in the club's Pro-Matic machines. Lucky winner who breaks one of the blue rabbits will win a yearly Sporting Clay Membership.
OK Corral is located off Hwy. 70, east of Okeechobee. Turn north on 80th Ave, and follow the signs. Phone number is 863-3567-2226, and the website is www.okcorralgunclub.com
The club is open to the public, with a variety of memberships and daily rates. The sprawling complex offers an interesting mix of shooting sports, from sporting clays, to rifle and pistol ranges, to authentic Cowboy Action Shooting galleries. Shaded golf carts are available for transporting gear among the stations and restrooms (done up to resemble blacksmith shops and other Wild West features). Open 7 days a week, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with special summer hours on Weds. and Friday, closing at 8 p.m.
In fact, Florida Sportsman Editor Jeff Weakley (that's his hat in the photo) and Illustrator Joe Suroviec just returned from a trip to OK Corral Gun Club, on Monday April 2. More on their adventures in a coming print issue of Florida Sportsman Magazine!
