The International Game Fish Association (IGFA) announced that Rodrigo Salles of Untamed Angling landed another all-tackle world record peacock bass on fly gear.

On his very first cast of August 25th, 2022, Salles hooked a strong fish on Brazil’s Rio Marié. After a several-minute battle, the massive 25.3-pound, 92-centimeter peacock bass came to hand. It was later certified as the new all-tackle length world record.

“We can land monster peacock bass on fly,” Salles said in a press release. “It’s a war waged and all anglers should experience that!”

Salles employed a Thomas & Thomas Exocett SS 9-weight rod, a Nautilus NV-G 7/8 reel, a Scientific Anglers Sonar Custom Tip Jungle fly line and Absolute fluorcarbon leader, and a Pike Terror Flies streamer for the record fish.

This was Salles’s second IGFA peacock bass record in as many years. On September 4, 2021, he landed a 91cm speckled peacock bass, also on the Rio Marié. With this fish, Rodrigo tied the IGFA All-Tackle Length World Record for the species.
