G. Loomis IMX Pro Green Rods

Over the years, G. Loomis IMX graphites have always been sleeper hits for saltwater flats fishing—crisp actions in the 7-foot-and-change range, incredibly light and responsive in the hand, but packing surprising power for delivering lightweight lures. This year, G. Loomis launches the IMX-PRO GREEN series focused squarely on inshore fishing. Nine rods range from a 6-foot, 8-inch medium light/fast action to a 7-foot, 6-inch heavy/extra fast action. Guides are Fuji K frames with Alconite inserts. Cork handles for classic feel and reliable grip. MSRP ranges from $400 to $430.

Columbia PFG Force XII ODX Jacket and Bib

Columbia has a great solution this year for mid-weight, breathable, active-fit foul-weather gear: the new PFG Force XII Jacket and Bib featuring the company’s innovative OutDry waterproofing. The bib features abrasion-resistant knee overlays, zippered pockets, comfortable elastic suspenders and a size-correct fit that’s not bulky. The jacket has a high collar, chin guard, adjustable cuffs and slight drop tail—like the bib, it’s a waterproof layer with technical features and a build light enough for tropical downpours, heavy enough for cold front seaspray. Price is $250 for the jacket, $250 for bib. Men’s sizes S to XXL.

Okuma Tesoro LD Jigging Reels

Deep-jigging for amberjacks, tunas and grouper? Okuma’s new Tesoro LD (lever drag) Jigging Reel Series promises to be a compact powerhouse that’s easy on you and hard on the fish. It features a CNC-cut, 6061-T6 aluminum frame with forged aluminum side plates, aluminum spool and what Okuma calls XL Gearing: oversized 303-grade stainless steel drive and pinion gears for maximum torque and cranking power. Dual carbon drag (washers on both sides of spool) offers up to 26 pounds at strike and up to 46 pounds at full. Dual one-way bearings are backed by a mechanical ratchet, delivering solid hooksets and eliminating handle back play. Retail price is $449.99 for models TLJ-2000NA and TLJ-2000NLA.
