The included diamond whetstones feature precisely micronized single crystal diamonds in DMT's signature polka dot pattern, which provides an interrupted surface of tiny wells that trap metal debris ensuring clean, continuous edge contact. They come in three grits: Coarse diamond to quickly restore a neglected edge, Fine diamond for a razor sharp edge and Extra-Fine diamond to polish and refine a razor edge after sharpening with a coarser stone. The stones are wider than those in most kits to increase stability and reduce the likelihood of rocking the stone on the knife. The Fine diamond serrated attachment allows sharpening of notched and curved blades, and the knife clamp easily facilitates sharpening at seven different angles to match virtually any bevel.
The Aligner Pro Kit's knife clamp is made of glass-reinforced engineered polymer to prevent any scratching or marring. The kit components can sharpen ceramic blades as well as newer technology high-alloy steels, which conventional abrasives cannot handle.
