Jacksonville's 14th Annual "El Cheapo" Sheepshead Tournament

The Jacksonville Offshore Sport Fishing Club's 14th Annual "El Cheapo" Sheepshead Tournament out of the Mayport Public Boat Ramp at Mike Scanlan Park in Mayport, Fl, will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014. Entry fee is $80.00 per boat prior to February 8th and $100.00 thereafter. Entry fee for the Junior Angler Division is $10.00 per junior angler.

This event is the "World's Largest Sheepshead Tournament" and one of the largest Fishing Tournaments in the Nation. Due to circumstances beyond our control (production and delivery dates) the Grand prize for the General tournament will be a Carolina Skiff 198DLV with a 115 HP 4 stroke Mercury motor on a Magic Tilt trailer. The 2nd place winner will receive a Carolina Skiff J-14 boat with a 30 HP 4 stroke Mercury motor on a Magic Tilt trailer. There will also be a boat package for 3rd place, then cash and prizes awarded from 4th through 15th place, plus 5 - $100.00 mystery weight awards. Junior Anglers (16 or younger) will compete for their own prize structure with prizes being awarded to the top 15 juniors.

A mandatory Captain's meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, February 21st, at the J.O.S.F.C. clubhouse at the Mayport boat ramp. On-line registration and printable entry forms for the tournament are available now at www.jaxfish.com. Captains may also register at any J.O.S.F.C. meeting (held the first and third Thursday of the month) or at the Captain's meeting beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Registration ends at 6:59 a.m. the day of the tournament. Fishing begins at 7:00 a.m. Weigh-in is from 1 to 4 p.m. with the awards ceremony immediately following. Spectators are encouraged to attend.

The J.O.S.F.C., founded in 1959, attempts to promote education, conservation and safety in offshore fishing. The funds raised during this tournament will be used to facilitate club activities, including artificial reef management, education and boating safety seminars, throughout the year. This event is the major fundraiser for our organization for the year.

For more information please visit the J.O.S.F.C. website at www.jaxfish.com or our FaceBook page at El Cheapo. You may also contact Tournament Director Frank Joura at (904) 241-0777, e-mail: FJoura@bellsouth.net.
