Insetta Boatworks 45

Change is sometimes hard, especially for an angler who has never experienced the ride of a catamaran first hand. Air, trapped in the tunnel as the boat is underway, lets the hull ride on a cushion effect that softens the landing as you impact a wave. Another benefit of a multi-hull vessel is less wetted surface in contact with the water, which equates to fuel efficiency. Many catamarans, even the super sized ones, have the ability to plane off and run at cruising speed with only one engine in operation. Cats do have an awesome ride and are very stable at rest but the running characteristics are different when compared to a deep V mono hull vessel. It's one of those things that you will just have to experience yourself to understand.

With the beam carried all the way forward, one advantage of a cat is deck space. You don't sacrifice the space lost by the bow tapering to a V, as in the case of most mono hulls. If spacious bow seating is a feature you are looking for, cats lend themselves very well to this. Catamaran style hull designs have caught up with the curvy lines of similar sized mono hulls. This may account for their greater acceptance today among the boat buying public.

Sometimes bigger is just better and that certainly applies when looking for an offshore center console. Add to the 45-foot length, a catamaran stepped, tunnel-hull and you have a boat that has no boundaries on when and where to fish. Lifting the U-shaped bow cushion reveals an enormous amount of storage plus a pair of small berths. The center console may look somewhat plain from the dock but open the door to see a yacht-like interior with a full berth, head and galley. For all of its good looks, this boat is still a lethal hard-core fishing machine with a fully appointed tackle station, insulated fish boxes and live baitwell. Divers and anglers will like the walk-through transom door. Two power options are available, bracket-mounted outboards or I/O diesels.
