Maverick Boat Company, manufacturer of Hewes Light Tackle Boats, has redesigned their versatile, mid-sized skiff.
For decades this boat has been a favorite of backcountry anglers and many Keys guides have made their living out of one. Famous for its speed, range and ride, the Redfisher 18 now boasts even more features.
The advanced centerline livewell system will keep your bait healthier. The new center console has an improved switch panel and room for flush mounted electronics. A forward fuel tank balances the boat better, while lessening the draft and allowing for easier access. Additional storage fore and aft will let you carry more gear, secure and dry.
The CAD designed hull is stronger and lighter weight than earlier versions. This increases the speed and range of the boat, plus allows better performance from a smaller outboard.
The reason for the redesign according to Charlie Johnson, Maverick's Director of Marketing, was “to meet the needs of the backcountry angler who spends most of his time on the trolling motor but still wants the advantage of a flats boat.”
Florida Sportsman Boating Editor Dave East attended the Maverick Boat Companies media event to get a closeup look at several of their new boats. “The Redfisher 18 may not be a new model for MBC but the refinements they made will ensure this legend of the flats fishing world will live on for decades to come,” said East.
