FFT celebrates 12th year of great fishing.
Despite Chantals interference, the FFT was finished off this past Saturday, July 13th. This year was the 12th year that this tournament has been run each year in the Everglades National Park. The field this year consisted of 35 two man teams taking on the challenging 15 to 20 mile per hour southwest winds in search of the inshore grand slam.
The tournament kicked off on July 11th at Tradewinds Bar and Grill at Bayside marina with a meet and greet for the anglers and their families. The criteria of fish for this event was for anglers to try and get the inshore grand slam, which consists of: tarpon, redfish, snook, and trout. With the abundancy of these fish living in the Everglades it made for a great day of fishing. After all was said and done team Gladesrunner came out on top with a total fish length of 110 inches. The event was able to raise nearly $2000 for Everglades National Park and the success of the event relies heavily on the forum and the lawsticks that were donated.
A big thank you goes out to all the sponsors of the event: Starbrite /Startron, Tradewinds Bar and Grill, Biscayne Rod, Don's Bait and Tackle, Continental Trailers, Strictly Trailers, Bayside Market Place, Flying Fisherman, Penn, Sticker-Up, Pro-Cure, Bass Assassin, Breath like a Fish, Coastal Night Lights, and Knot Tickle Creations.
