Red Snapper, ICAST, Lobster and Alligator—It's Busy in the Outdoors

For the next couple of weeks, Florida outdoorsmen have many opportunities for anglers, divers, hunters and gatherers to score. Red snapper in the Atlantic, lobster, alligators, snook and scallops are available depending on seasons, ranges and other limits.

• July 11-12: Red snapper, Atlantic. Two days are allowed for anglers trying to catch one red snapper per day, no size limit. Follow additional Florida regulations.
• July 14-18: ICAST, Orlando. The world’s largest fishing tackle trade show descends for a week each year. Follow ASA Fishing for more information.
• July 30-31: Lobster Sport Season. The 48-hour “mini-season” as it is known. Divers in Monroe County and Biscayne Bay have a 6-person daily bag limit; Divers throughout the rest of Florida have a 12-lobster daily limit. Follow additional Florida regulations.
• Aug. 6-March 31, 2026: Lobster Regular Season. The full season continues throughout the year with a 6-per-harvester daily bag limit. Follow additional Florida regulations.
• Aug. 15-Nov. 8: Alligator Hunt. Permitted hunters have up to two tags allowing nearly 15,000 harvested. Follow additional Florida regulations.
• Sept. 1: Snook Season (except Charlotte County and Southwest Florida, both begin Oct. 1). Florida’s premier fishing season is open throughout much of the state. Follow additional Florida regulations.
• Sept. 1-Sept. 15: Gag grouper season in Gulf of America waters. Follow additional NOAA Fisheries regulations
