Give your Cast Net Some TLC and Catch More Bait



 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

You don't need live bait to catch fish, but a lot of the times it helps. So, for the days you want to catch live bait, make sure your cast net is in good shape. Just like your tackle you'll want to take some time cleaning your net after each trip. Captain Russ Sirmons of St. Petersburg mentioned, “I take my net out of the boat after each trip, rinsing it with freshwater, then letting it dry hanging from a tree limb in my back yard. I also soak it in fabric softener as needed keeping the mono soft and pliable.

Also, when the nets are hanging I'm able to inspect them for holes that need to be patched. I depend on my nets to work; I need to take care of them.”
