August 2007 webXtra coverage. FS is there to shoot and see the new boat from Georgia.

The largest Sailfish offered, the 30-06 CC is also the best performing with the new VDS 5 hull design by Sailfish. Her wide beam provides ample buoyancy for four-stroke engines and the multiple deadrise bottom produces a dry, comfortable ride. She runs about 50 mph and, as one Sailfish captain put it, has “good dock manners,” responding well to working the twin engines.

Family and friends will appreciate the forward seating, wide center console that easily accommodates three when underway, and the cooler seat that can be moved from the transom to aft of the console. Cabinet storage includes lure bags, drawers, Plano boxes and spool holders. Her large console also provides good access to electronics, more storage and plenty of room for the head. Her 28 rod holders remind you that, although she is family friendly, she is designed to fish.

A popular length for offshore fishing these days, the 30-06 adds quite a few creature comforts, including a big T-top and lots of cushions.

Cooler with cushion top, moved forward to afford a rear view of numerous rodholders and a pair of drink holders.

Transom panels open for access to water separators.

Livewell with clear lid behind leaning post. Lid at left lifts to reveal rigging tray.

The cushy cooler moved aft, for a comfy ride when running offshore.

Fold-down telescoping dive ladder. Essential on any offshore boat.

Built-in tackle trays for essential items you want to keep on the boat--tools, line spools, leader, hooks.

Seating for captain and first mate, and probably second mate, too.

The "double-wide" of center consoles.

Bow cushions, coaming bolsters, recessed rail, pop-up cleat, speaker . . . it's a plush world up there, with some consideration for angling. Just don't gaff a dolphin up there.

There's something to be said for removable marine coolers, versus built-in models. It's convenient to load up drinks and lunch at home, and then just plop it in the boat. Cleaning, too, is a cinch. This one doubles as a seat.

Marine head in the console, with lots of mesh storage areas.

Another look at the bow seating area.

Anchor locker.

Twin 250s, with Miami in the background.
