Did someone say blackened mahi sandwiches?
There really is nothing quite like a fresh fish sandwich. The Florida Keys are known for their variety of delicious recipes for fresh seafood. Cracked conch, grouper fingers, grilled lobster tails, the list goes on and on, but nothing quite compares to this simple fish and cheese, mahi sandwich recipe.
There’s no need to get fancy with a fresh mahi sandwich. Blacken briefly in a pan before adding to a sandwich bun with or without tartar sauce.
Easy steps to a delicious mahi sandwich. Fillet mahi into sandwich-sized chunks cutting out the red blood line. Liberally coat both sides of the fillet with blackened seasoning of your choice. We prefer Red Fish Magic for our blackened fish.

In a smoking hot cast iron pan, melt 2 tablespoon of butter. Place the fish fillet in the pan and allow it to develop a thick crust on one side before flipping. Thickness of fillets will determine length of cooking time for each side. After you flip your fish in the pan, place a single slice of cheese atop the fish, allowing it to melt as the fish continues to cook.
When the fish has completed cooking, serve on a toasted bun with mayo or homemade tartar sauce. Add other toppings as desired then sit back and enjoy the best fish sandwich you’ll ever experience.
