South Florida Council of the Boy Scouts Announces Inaugural Sporting Clays Invitational
Occasionally at FS, we like to get the word out about an upcoming tournament, especially when the event will be held for the first time. When we heard about a sporting clays tournament to be held by the South Florida Council of the Boy Scouts of America later this year at the Quail Creek Plantation, we wanted to get the word out right away in case anyone wanted to put it on their calendar and give themselves a few months to sharpen up their skills.
South Florida Council (SFC), Boy Scouts of America is pleased to announce
the addition of a new, exciting special event. Due to the support of Title
Sponsors, Taurus International Manufacturing and Mercantile Bank, SFC
will be having its Inaugural Sporting Clays Invitational at Quail Creek
Plantation in Okeechobee, on Thursday, October 30th.
Quail Creek hosts world-class sporting clays tournaments.

The format of the tournament will include 30 plus teams of four shooters, with each participant shooting 100 targets at 14 different stations with a unique mix of trap and skeet. Registration and breakfast will start at 7:30 a.m., with the tournament beginning promptly at 9:00 AM. At the conclusion of the tournament a BBQ lunch will be provided prior to the closing awards ceremony. A silent auction will be set up throughout the
event, providing a great opportunity to secure fantastic trips, shooting memorabilia, shotguns and much, much more!
Cabins and a BBQ the night before at Quail Creek will also be available for the larger sponsors.
If you’re an avid shooter, or just a beginner, the tournament will give you
an opportunity to have fun practicing your shot gunning skills and support
Scouting at the same time. Sponsorships are still available. (However, if you’re a beginner, we’d suggest some good solid practice sessions before hand and maybe a few hours of instruction from a friend or professional.)
You'll get your shot to help the Boy Scouts, too.

Quail Creek Plantation, not far from Vero Beach in the central region of the state, is a great place to put your skills and eye to the test, and a great place to introduce yourself to shooting if you’re interested in getting started. Instructors are available for hire.
Quail Creek Plantation is the site of many first-rate tournaments and offers a world-class shooting range with stations that can be tailored to your skill level. Call Quail Creek at (863) 763-2529.
If you’re interested in being part of this event, please call
Joshua Christ at 305-364-0020, x218 for more details about the event.
South Florida Council serves over 70,000 youth throughout Broward,
Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. Proceeds from the tournament will
support SFC’s Operation Scoutreach initiative for at-risk youth from
economically challenged neighborhoods that otherwise would not be able
to participate in the character building programs of Scouting. Show your
support of Scouting and have a blast doing so!
The South Florida Council of Boy Scouts of America expresses its gratitude to Robert G. Morrison, President & CEO, and David J. Blenker,
Executive V.P., CFO & COO for Taurus International, for serving as the
Event Co-Chairmen and agreeing to be this year’s Co-Title Sponsor. Special
thanks also go out to Ernie Diaz, Market President & COO for Mercantile
Bank, for supporting the tournament as our other Co-Title Sponsor.
