Mercury Marine Releases 2008 Angler Contingency Program and Mercury Bonus Buck Program Guidelines

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Mercury Marine is pleased to announce its 2008 angler contingency program and Mercury Bonus Buck Program guidelines for various 2008 tournaments, including the Oh Boy! Oberto Redfish Cup, Southern Kingfish Association (SKA), IFA Redfish Tour, BASS Weekend Series, B.A.S.S. Open, Bass Fishing League (BFL) and FLW Series. Potential prize money from Mercury Marine totals more than $450,000.

Oh Boy! Oberto Redfish Cup
In its sixth year, the Oh Boy! Oberto Redfish Cup is the nation’s premier inshore saltwater series. The schedule consists of five events and a championship.

Mercury will award a $15,000 first place contingency prize to the winning team in each event. Mercury also will award contingency prizes to anglers who place in the top 8. The total potential prize money for each event could exceed $26,000.

In addition, Mercury will provide a contingency award of $25,000 to the overall champion of the Redfish Cup. Mercury will also award contingency prizes to anglers who place in the top 8. The total potential prize money for the championship could exceed $59,000.

SKA Jr. Angler Scholarship
Mercury will award the top Mercury-powered SKA Junior Angler for each 2008 event with a $500 college scholarship. Qualified participants must be an official SKA Junior Angler and fish an SKA sanctioned tournament.

Bass Fishing League (BFL)
Mercury will award $500 to the winner of each BFL event if the angler wins in a Mercury-powered boat. Total potential prize money could exceed $70,000.

Stren Pro Angler
Mercury will award $1,500 to the winner of each Stren Pro Angler event if the angler wins in a Mercury-powered boat. The company will award an additional $5,000 to the winner of the championship if the angler wins in a Mercury-powered boat. Total potential prize money could exceed $40,000.

B.A.S.S. Opens
Mercury will award $1,500 to the winner of each B.A.S.S. Open event if the angler wins in a Mercury-powered boat. Total potential prize money could exceed $9,000.

FLW Tour Angler of the Year and FLW Series East & West Fishoff
Mercury will award the season’s top 10 FLW Tour and East & West Fishoff anglers a total payout of $170,000. Top prize for the highest placed finisher if they win in a Mercury-powered boat is $25,000.

FLW Walleye Angler of the Year
Mercury will award the season’s top 10 anglers a total payout of $16,250 and a 250 ProXS OptiMax to the 2008 Angler of the Year if they win in a Mercury-powered boat.

Masters Walleye Circuit (MWC)/ FLW Walleye League
Mercury will award $500 to the winner of each MWC and FLW Walleye League event if the angler wins in a Mercury-powered boat. Potential prize money totals $9,500.

Professional Musky Tournament Trail (PMTT)
Mercury will award $500 to the winner of each PMTT event if the angler wins in a Mercury-powered boat. Potential prize money totals $2,000.

Bass-N-Bucks Texas
Mercury will award $2,500 to the winner of each Bass-N-Bucks Texas event if the angler wins in a Mercury-powered boat. Total potential prize money is $20,000.

IFA Redfish Tour
Mercury will award $500 to the winner of each IFA event if the angler wins in a Mercury-powered boat. Potential prize money totals $9,000.

Bassmaster Weekend Series
In December 2007, Mercury and MotorGuide announced the 2008 bonus and contingency programs for anglers competing in the Bassmaster Weekend Series, with potential prize money totaling more than $375,000.

Mercury will award a $1,000 bonus to the winning boater in each Bassmaster Weekend Series Tournament and a bonus of $1,000 to each division champion, provided the winner's boat is equipped with a 2006 or newer Mercury outboard engine.

MotorGuide will award a $500 bonus to the winning boater in each Bassmaster Weekend Series Tournament and a bonus of $500 in each divisional championship, provided the winner's boat is equipped with a 2006 or newer MotorGuide trolling motor.

In addition to the bonus program, Mercury and MotorGuide have established a contingency program for the National Championship that award bonuses to all qualifying participants who finish in the top 50 spots.
