10th Annual Islamorada Fishing Club Captain’s Cup

Twenty teams met in Islamorada on the evening of June 3rd in preparation for their search for the winning dolphin the next day, in the Islamorada Fishing Club’s Captain’s Cup Dolphin Tournament. They fished all day Thursday, but only one boat could take home the big check for $25,000.00.

The Kalex team weighed in three dolphin with individual weights of 37.5, 27.4 and 24.6 for a total of 89.5 pounds to win the 10th annual event. Anglers Cary Grady and Joey Carroll from Southern Pines, North Carolina, were on board with captain Raymond Baiz and mates Matthew Guthrie and Hunter Barron. Captain Alex Adler, owner of the Kalex, was fishing aboard the Clueless, defending last year’s title as winners of the event. As winners, the Kalex team has qualified for an entry into the IGFA Offshore World Championship to be held in Cabo San Lucas next spring.

In second place, weighing in three fish for a total of 69.2 pounds, was Manhole Heaven. Anglers Johnny White from Coconut Grove, Florida and Danny Perna of Port Orange, Florida were fishing with captain Alex Debogory and mate Roger Garcia.
