An unusually slow bite forced 43 teams to make every opportunity count in the inaugural Sailfish 400 tournament held in Miami on January 16 & 17. A purse in excess of $574,000 kept the teams on their toes despite lackluster fishing. At any second, one fish could make the difference between 10th place and 1st place.
The Darrell Gwynn Foundation is a charitable organization whose mission is to provide support for people living with paralysis and to prevent spinal cord injuries. Their flagship fundraising event, a fishing tournament called Hot Rods and Reels, is held each year at the Homestead Miami Speedway on the infield lake.
The 3rd Annual Northeast Florida Sportsman Bash & Tournament held this past weekend was an overwhelming success, raising more money than any other FS Forum based tournament in the past. Thanks to our hard working and dedicated voluntary Forum moderators and tournament directors, this years NE Bash & Tournament raised over $20,000 for Yvonne Tison, who is battling Lyme Disease.
The largest sailfish tournament in the country, the Sailfish Challenge, is returning to Fort Lauderdale on February 5th. Over 60 boats are pre-registered and ready to battle for a purse that is expected to exceed $375,000. It’s another shot closer to winning the Quest for the Crest Sailfish Series and the chance at the champion’s burgundy jacket.
