DESTIN REDS & BLACKS
By, BigRick, 11/20/08

Took out the big boat a few days ago, we were going to try to troll for some kings but had trouble finding good bait and couldn't get out till the middle of the day. We chased down a school of bonito on the way in but all I had for bait was a hard tail and they woun't eat so we decided to try the jetties till the tide started moveing. I was hoping on getting a load a flounder everyone was talking about but I pulled up these guys. caught about 10 or 12 black snapper, and a few small groupers. The tide started moving so we caught some pinfish and headed for the bridge. MY buddy hooked up with a nice slot red. The sun was going down and we headed to our last stop the coast gaurd jetties and had better luck with the flounder and a few small reds. It was a pretty good day fishing, I would have liked to get into some bulls but I should be fishing for them a lot more now that it's so cold. Thanks to the people who showed me how to post. Hopefully I can get some more reports up soon. >>Forum Thread & More Photos

BIG RED
By, shotf16, 11/3/08

Looks like this one is it... Moving to the desert, so took one last trip. Hung out with friends at TYC Marina, spent the night on the boat, and (almost forgot), caught this little guy. Mann's Stretch 25, orange/yellow, w/rattles. Trolled about 4.5mph just as the sun was droppin off the west horizon. Thought we'd snagged a rock off the west jetty until after the wife starts backing down it's still pulling drag. Good ender. Couple cool shots for those who enjoy. See ya to all those i know. Be back in a few years when the AF gets done with me. Til then... Tight Lines!. >>Forum Thread & More Photos

BAYOU REDS
By, PeaRiver, 10/29/08

I have never fished the Mississippi Delta and when asked if I wanted to be part of two days of fishing with a local guide for some redfish and trout action I jumped on the chance just to see an area of the world I had never seen. Didn't expect the fishing to be that much different just the scenery. Boy was I wrong. We met our captain at 6:30 (eastern) and didn't think it would be much of a problem finding him at the marina. Yeah right, there are several inshore charters and several offshore there waiting on clients. We found his boat and he found us.

We cruised out using his radar and were sitting on our first spot at day break. I couldn't start fishing for the enjoyment of watching all the ducks swarming around We were fishing a spill over flat from the Mississippi that had a good current flow. For a solid hour and a half everyone caught either a redfish, trout or flouder on seemingly every cast. After the current slowed, we drifted some areas pitching to the banks and it seemed once or three times every hundred yards someone was hooked into a redfish. The creel for both days were a limit of redfish (20) and about 40 trout (limit would have been 100). We probably threw back 25-40 redfish each day.

There were six other guides that came in about the same time we did and everyone seemed to have about the same box full of fish. It was a great trip and for some fun inshore action I would recommend you check out Captain Dan in Venice, La www.rodnreel.com/mlccharters
