What's Biting Now
Florida Sportsman member: Stingwray It was a little bumpy on way out but got better the farther we went. We made a few stops picking A few fish off each stop. The fish were caught on both live and dead bait.
Florida Sportsman Member: 85okhai I have never caught a pompano on a jig and don’t even know when the last time I even caught a pompano was. Third or fourth cast in hooked into something nice and what I thought was a pompano ended up being a nice sheepshead.
What kinds of fish might you find on the artificial reefs and wrecks around the Florida coast? That depends on season and latitude, to some extent. In midwinter, for instance, there’s a pretty big difference between the cold, nutrient-rich green water you’d encounter off Fernandina Beach, in far northeast Florida, and the warm, crystal clear Gulf Stream along the Florida Keys.
