The big blow is finally over and now it is nice and cool. I've been out the last couple of days to check things after TS Ida and the cold front moved through our area. The oceanside flats are clean at least out to the west. I would assume so up to the east as well since the wind has been from the north for about a week now. Water temps are fairly warm during the incoming tide around 74 degrees. Fished a couple of flats this morning and found a couple of schools of bonefish and saw a couple of permit. I was by myself this morning drifting, but the drifts weren't perfect with the north wind so I bagged it early.

MARATHON HUMP
By josesirven, 10/05/09
It was flat calm Sunday morning so we decided to hit the Marathon hump. We left when it was still dark so we were the first boat on the hump when the sun was coming up. What a great experience it was fishing the hump alone with no other boats around. It was picture perfect you could clearly see where the hump pushed the water up. The second our C & H Jet Rattlers hit the area the Toriums started screaming. What a fun two hours we had, we kept 10 blackfin tuna and let everything else go. What a great day.

GULF STREAM TIGHT TO REEF
By KWLuis, 11/01/09
Went out to the reef last Sunday for an afternoon trip. Marked fish on the reef south of Little Palm. Zero Current and crystal clear visibility. Tails were plentiful as were the sharks. For every tail we landed we probably lost 4 or 5 to the sharks. This is one of the bigger tails...and yes my arms are extended out as a joke. It went 24inches with out pinching the tail.

LOWER KEYS GULFSIDE
By Ruskin_Raider, 10/12/09
Well this was a trip that has long been in the works. Joe and I have been itching to check some gulfside numbers for a long time in search of Cobia, but with our hectic summer schedules it just wasn't possible. Well I ran into Joe at the movies last week (we saw Zombieland- not bad), and we drew up a plan to make the long run out. After what seemed like a month of calm weather I was "thrilled" to see the windy forecast for today. Despite the windy conditions we headed out at 745 with a boat full of tackle, ice, and live baits.
