HALIFAX REPORT
By, d-hlaw, 4/27/08
We decided to take a shot at the tourney on Sunday since it was supposed to run on Saturday but got postponed. As it turned out Saturday was probably the better day. It was pretty bumpy on the way out since we decided to run south and take it on the nose. We ran out to 110' and put out the spread. Most of our hits came in the 170-190' range and in a particular area that had no weed, no temp break and was showing no bait.. it was just fishy, go figure. We just kept getting strikes on a small piece of structure. We caught 5 dolphin ranging from one small 15lb'r to as big as 32lbs. We also caught a 20lb hoo and a nice sail. We did have a huge phin up and he grabbed a horse ballyhoo and faught for a few minutes then gave cross the spread run, head shake and small jump spitting the hook. He was the "one". It was all in all a great time no matter how we did in the tourney. >>Forum Thread & More Photos

36 pounds of it. 250' out of SI. Naked Ballyhoo. Also got an 18lb cow. Lost another 20ish lber. Fish have been inhaling ballyhoo like there's no tomorrow. I would guess I'm not alone in thinking this is a heck of a season. Or maybe it's because I've caught a few for a change...

Took out the Gheenoe saturday with my cousin George, Stopped by Kelly's B&T by 6am for ice, bait. On the water by 6:45am. The day started off slow, nothing but catfish til about 12pm. George is really good at catching catfish. The bit turned on at noon. 25" trout. 28" Red. 33" Red.
The big dawg. Estimated at 50's ( inches ) - From the house compartment in the middle of my Gheenoe to the front of my seat is 45'', This fish was longer than that by about 10''-12''. She took about 45 minutes to land on 20lb powerpro, with 30lb Flouro leader. Estimated weight?.. Really heavy. The fish was revived for about 10 minutes and swan away strong.
All of our fish today were out of slot, so they were released to fight another day. Great job George on catching your biggest Red ever on this trip. His measured around 45'' and was a He'll be posting some pic's of his fish soon. Tight Lines & Good Times. >>Forum Thread & More
