An unusually slow bite forced 43 teams to make every opportunity count in the inaugural Sailfish 400 tournament held in Miami on January 16 & 17. A purse in excess of $574,000 kept the teams on their toes despite lackluster fishing. At any second, one fish could make the difference between 10th place and 1st place.

The Kayak Fishing ClassicS held the 4th annual Ozello Classic on September 7 hosted by Pecks Old Port Cove Restaurant, the famous local eatery. The Ozello Classic was the 5th and final Gulf Coast divisional tournament and series championship.

The Gulf Division is still up in the air and the series championship will come down to the wire…again. Friendly Flamingo Fishing Tournament runs for 12th year. The tournament kicked off on July 11th at Tradewinds Bar and Grill at Bayside marina with a meet and greet for the anglers and their families. The criteria of fish for this event was for anglers to try and get the inshore grand slam, which consists of: tarpon, redfish, snook, and trout.
Today, Long Nguyen and Blair Wickstrom presented a $9372.00 check to the Jouppi family of Stuart, FL. The check will benefit the youngest, Dylan Jouppi, who was born with an encephalocele, hydrocephalus, Dandy-Walker Syndrome and Klippel-Feil Syndrome. This check came from the Florida Sportsman Southeast Bash fishing tournament that ran this past May.
