“FS Approved” Reports Rules and Regulations
The Best Fishing Reports on the Web are Getting Better. Promotional period starts on Jan. 18.

Post an “FS Approved” fishing report on the Florida Sportsman Fishing Forum and pick up a free pack of Trigger X baits at your local tackle shop. Reports are easy to do, and only require you to log onto the Forum and rehash your latest fishin’ trip.

FS APPROVED REPORTS MUST INCLUDE:

-Fish picture on the water
We want to see your catch fresh, whether it’s in the boat, in your lap on a kayak, or underneath a bridge. We do realize a photo isn’t always possible right after the catch, so we will be lenient when the situation calls for it. Certain species of snappers and groupers that are caught out of season may not warrant a photo.

-Approximate size of catch
If the fish was kept, try to give us an accurate weight or length. If the fish was not kept, just give us your best estimate. We don’t want anglers weighing out of season or out of slot fish; that’s detrimental to their health when they’re intentionally trying to be protected.

-Basic technique(s) used
Were you trolling or drifting a reefline? Maybe wading a flat? Bottom fishing with live baits? Give us some details about the technique(s) you used. We don’t want you to write a book or release your top secrets; the intent of the report is to help educate other forum members.

-Lure or bait(s) used
Using soft-plastic artificials? What types of plugs were they? Chunking live baits? Trolling spread? What were the top baits on that trip?

-Approximate area caught
Again, don’t give away your exact reef locations, bottom numbers, or hidden flats. If you’re an offshore angler, simply tell us the depth, how many miles out you were from the pass, or something along those lines. If you’re an inshore angler, tell forum readers whether you were fishing grass flats, bridges or oyster bars. Maybe hint if the tide was high or low, moving in or out.

Here are examples of an older OFFSHORE and an older INSHORE fishing report that fit the basic criteria. We won't ever penalize you for typos.

Raffle

Post a Report, Win a Trip

FS Approved posts are entered into a raffle for a forum member to win a free full-day fishing trip for two anglers. Only one fishing report per month can receive free Trigger X baits. The winner and a friend will fish with Capt. George Gozdz of Jensen Beach, FL. George has appeared on various TV shows including Shallow Water Angler TV and Florida Sportsman TV. But be prepared to post a report when you’re done!

A second forum member will win a $500 prize package from Trigger X.

Rules

Florida Sportsman will e-mail you your notification and a list of participating dealers where you can pick up your free package of Trigger X soft baits. Realize that we’ll send verification—a voucher if you will—to the e-mail associated with your forum member name. Make sure Florida Sportsman has an e-mail address where we can contact you. Different posters can report on the same trip as long as different information is provided for each criterion.

Bring a printed copy of the e-mailed voucher to your tackle shop as proof of a “qualified” report.

The Trigger X fishing reports promotional period runs from Jan. 18 to July 31, or while supplies last. Only one fishing report per month will qualify for the free Trigger X soft baits. The complete list of participating tackle shops is listed below.

Drawings

Drawings will occur on Friday, August 6, 2010.

Terms & Conditions

All vouchers come with a specific identification number, bar code and angler name to uniquely mark each coupon. Florida Sportsman will keep detailed records of all e-mails, vouchers and Trigger X packages handed out, in conjunction with tackle shop records.

Any forum member found tampering, cheating or cashing in on free Trigger X loot without an accompanying FS Approved fishing report is automatically disqualified from the Trigger X promotion and future online promotions. Tackle shops and Florida Sportsman Staff will determine if cheating is occurring.
