The Snook Foundation and Surfrider Foundation are hosting an outdoors fundraiser that includes everything a family could ask for—live music, food and drinks, kids’ activities and plenty of vendors related to Florida’s great outdoors.
The first annual Jam will take place at the Sunset Cove Amphitheater in West Boca Raton. Located at the edge of the Everglades, the brand new amphitheater sits on a big, deep lake that will be put to use with various fishing, kayaking and surfing demonstrations.
Expert anglers Capt. Brett Isackson of www.bassonline.com and Capt. Danny Barrow of www.gosnookfishing.com will be on hand for Q&A seminars during intermissions. Darren Selznik, owner of Ole Florida Fly Shop, will be tying flies throughout the event and Terry Gibson will provide fly casting demonstrations and lessons. “This should be the outdoors event of the year,” says Barrow. “Between the many activities for kids and adults, thrown in with great live music, this is the kind of fundraiser that everyone will enjoy.”
The doors open at 3 p.m., and music starts at 3:30. Florida’s own JJ Grey, of Mofro, will headline the event with a rare solo acoustic performance. He has cultivated a worldwide audience through the soulful blues that drip of his experiences growing up in rural Florida. Other musicians performing will be Will Conner, Joey George and Peter Stein.
Admission is $25, although advance tickets for $20 are available. All kids under 10 are free. Lawn chairs, blankets, and hand umbrellas are welcome. Proceeds will benefit the Snook and Surfrider foundations. For ticket locations and other details, visit www.snookfoundation.org.
Will Conner and Capt. Danny Barrow have fun with even the smaller docklight snook; both will entertain at the fundraiser at Sunset Cove Amphitheater.
