License Required for Land-Based Anglers by August
Starting August 1, resident shore-fishermen must have a fishing license.
The shoreline fishing-license exemption is no more. Starting in August, all land-based fishers must buy a fishing license (unless they already have a resident saltwater fishing license).
The $7.50 license will be required for anglers who fish from shore or a structure affixed to shore. Exempt anglers include senior citizens, children, certain disabled people, anglers drawing governmental cash assistance, active-duty military personnel, cane-pole fishers, and anglers who fish from a licensed pier.
Some resident anglers may choose to purchase the regular saltwater license that covers most Florida saltwater species and fishing locations. The new shoreline saltwater fishing license goes on sale July 15 and exempts Floridians from a new federal license that goes into effect Jan. 1, 2010.
Several other permit fee increases go into effect July 2010. They include a state waterfowl stamp that climbs to $5; a resident turkey permit, from $5 to $10; the nonresident turkey permit, from $100 to $125; the wildlife management area (WMA) permit for hunting, fishing and other recreational uses, from $25 to $30; the snook permit, from $2 to $10; the lobster permit, from $2 to $5; and the newly created annual deer permit starts at $5.
