Everglades National Park Public Meetings Slated for April
Angler input and comments vital to steer future boating restrictions.
Everglades National Park (ENP) planners are conducting public meetings on April 13, 14, 15 and 16 to present and discuss proposed alternative drafts of an eventual general management plan for both backcountry and Florida Bay waters within ENP boundaries.
At question is the degree of boating access restrictions in two of four drafts, namely large pole-and-trolling-motor zones where use of combustion engines would be prohibited. Other possible changes to present-day resource management include expanded idle zones, and a permit system that would require an educational course for all boaters wishing to access Park waters.
The meeting locations are posted below. All meetings start at 5:30 p.m. If you cannot attend a meeting, the Park invites written comment through their web site until May 15. Visit their NPS.gov Web site for more information and to view the draft proposals.
