Volunteers reattach coral off Palm Beach's Breakers Hotel.
Volunteers donned scuba gear in 68-degree water temperatures to reattach coral in 60 feet of water off Palm Beach. No one knows exactly what happened to the Breakers Reef and coral, but it's suspected a large ship laid waste to football-size sections of reef by way of a lackadaisical cable. The Department of Environmental Protection's investigation is currently inconclusive.

Protocol for the divers was to submerge 60 feet to the ocean floor, with a bucket of Portland cement, and reattach at least 103 corals sliced from the bottom. The alkaline cement could not come into contact with the outside living skin of the coral.
